13 Days of Blogoween: Muppet's Haunted Mansion Review

Okay- so I love the Muppets, I love The Haunted Mansion... this special looked really good and funny and good. And it is good but... I don't know. I think they made it almost too much like the ride... but if you're a fan of the ride... all the easter eggs and things are fun.

So it stars Gonzo and Pepe...which I thought was a nice change kind of. I love Gonzo and I feel like Pepe needed to star in something. He's so funny and it was good to choose him for a Haunted Mansion movie- he falls in love with Constance Hatchaway- the Bride from the ride. They spend Halloween night at a Haunted Mansion because Gonzo is looking to find his idol- a Magician named The Great MaGuffin. Instead they find a ghost host- played by Will Arnett... who you may know as Gob- the MAGICIAN from Arrested Development. So... yeah. Then we go through each of the sort of moments on the attraction. We see Madam Pigota, there's a cameo from John Stamos with a jump scare... there are tons of celebrity cameos... some recognizable and some it kind of takes a minute to recognize with their makeup on and stuff... but it's fun.

The music is all pretty good in it. They play "Dancing in the Moonlight" at the store that I work at and Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem sing that in this- and I kind of wish they did something more halloween-y like Werewolves of London... but this is fun and it's much better by Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem than the cover they play at the store I work at. Also I realized Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem might be my 3rd favorite group of Muppets- after Statler and Waldorf and Miss Piggy.

In general- I hope they do more Muppet Specials and Holiday Specials... this wasn't my favorite movie- but I probably would watch it again next halloween and I probably will keep watching it around Halloween.
