13 Days of Blogoween: Mom and Dad

Alright- I'm just going to say right off... I don't like this movie. I'm gonna say right off the bat... it's kind of offensive towards other cultures and... I just don't think Nicholas Cage is a good character... but he also isn't in the movie enough.

So the concept of this movie is that Nicholas Cage and Selma Blair are parents and suddenly something happens and all the parents want to kill their own children. It seems like its a radio frequency... it's all just kind of messy and the beginning is really boring and repetitive. Actually the whole movie is just kind of boring and it's just them trying to get their kids when the simple solution is just to trade kids with other people and facetime. I guess the desire is still that they would try to find their kids and kill them... but it's weird.

You ever think "Hey you know what horror movies should have? A montage of someone building a pool table. Then they should destroy said pool table while singing the Hokey Pokey angrily." This movie has that... and that's all I guess I can say is going for it.

I mean I didn't really mind watching it- it was exciting and fun to watch... but overall I don't think I can recommend it and I wouldn't watch it again. I do think there were maybe some somewhat offensive stereotypes used in the movie's depiction of anyone besides the white heteronormative family... it just really rubbed me the wrong way that the daughter's boyfriend died like 50 times and he was the only one that was attacked by people he wasn't biologically related to... There was just a lot that I was not loving in the movie.

It also... did not really have an ending that gave any answer or solution... which sometimes its better that horror movies don't have but... it just was not my favorite. I'd say watch the Nicholas Cage acting crazy scenes... but honestly I don't even think he's in the movie all that long. Also I do love Selma Blair... but I'm still just going to say no to this one. It's just... not my thing.
